Cricket has as many fans as football in Nepal today. With increasing broadcast of international cricket matches and competition on television sets and online, the gentleman’s game is eminent on fields to roadsides, with deuce to tennis balls. Several local to national competitions are organized regularly in the country.

The national level competition sees 9 regions (Kathmandu, Janakpur, Birgunj, Baitadi, Biratnagar, Bhairahawa, Nepalgunj, Pokhara and Mahendranagar along with the APF and theNepal Army) participate in 50-50 and 20-20 matches.

Oh, Yes! Every Nepali people behold a dream to see the national cricket team of Nepal go into the international arena and bat or bowl against the elite nations like India, Australia, South Africa, England, New Zealand, or the rest. Unlike football, where the competition is very high and Nepal’s performance has been a potpourri, it is cricket that has aroused a hope among the Nepalese hearts to participate in a sport of paramount adulation.

Cricket is a game of eleven players on-field. But, it is a game of twelve for Nepal. With fans putting their hands in hands infront of television or their mobile sets when the game is abroad, or filling up the Kirtipur Stadium whenever there’s a match inside the country, the love is all clear. Every Nepali shed tears in loss and never are mean to celebrate with zeal and go frenzy. Yes, the nation gets completely euphoric with every in and out national cricket activity.
