7. Antidote of pain
Most of the people use the intoxicants to get relieved of mental stress and tensions. One the regard, people use different liquors and drugs. All those things have been proved to be harmful for the human life and are encouraged to keep away from them as far as possible. Among them, however, marijuana is one that is yet to be verified being harmful to life. Indeed, as marijuana is not proved harmful, it can be the best pain reliever without any unwanted effects to the user. The researchers at Harvard Medical School also suggested that that use of marijuana could actually be negating anxiety, which would improve the smoker’s mood and act as a sedative in low doses.
6. Treats Glaucoma
Among several medical benefits is the treatment of Glaucoma. Glaucoma is basically an eye disease, which increases pressure in the eyeball, damaging the optic nerve and causing loss of vision. It has been tried to develop the better medication, however any medicines developed for now has been still inferior in front of marijuana for the treatment. Marijuana decreases the pressure inside the eye, according to the National Eye Institute: ‘Studies in the early 1970s showed that marijuana, when smoked, lowered intraocular pressure (IOP) in people with normal pressure and those with glaucoma.’ To put shortly, the use of marijuana has the tendency to slow the progression of the disease and thus preventing the possible blindness. It might sound strange, but marijuana’s treatment of glaucoma has been one of the best documented. Up to now, there isn’t a single study and contention that claim to disproves marijuana’s very powerful and popular effects on glaucoma patients.
5. Protect the lungs
Many might be thinking that smoking of marijuana would certainly have something to do with the adverse effects to the lungs. However, it might be just reverse; as sources have claimed that only-marijuana smoking not only is indifferent to the lungs but also negates the effects of tobacco and thereby improve the conditions of lungs. “We hypothesized that there would be a positive association between marijuana use and lung cancer, and that the association would be more positive with heavier use. What we found instead was no association at all, and even some suggestion of a protective effect.” said a medical Doctor Donald Tashkin, who conducted a research on marijuana for more than 30 years. Start believing, marijuana could be beneficial to lungs as it increases its capacity to deal with air. It is believed that the inhaling of marijuana smoke might be behind the possible enhancement of lung capacity.
4. Control seizures
Robert J. DeLorenzo, of Virginia Commonwealth University, published a paper in “Journal of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics” which said marijuana can control seizures. In the experiment, he gave marijuana extract and synthetic marijuana to the lab epileptic rats. The result was quite unbelievable as it rid the rats of the seizures for about 10 hours. Cannabinoids like the active ingredients in marijuana, tetrahydrocannabinol (also known as THC), was found to control seizures by binding to the brain cells responsible for controlling excitability and regulating relaxation.
